ATLANTIC CITY — More than 300 Atlantic City residents gathered at City Hall on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, as the city distributed winter coats to help residents stay warm amid a prolonged stretch of frigid temperatures.

The Winter Coat Giveaway, hosted by Mayor Marty Small Sr., provided men’s, women’s, and children’s coats in a wide range of sizes, offering immediate relief as cold weather continues to grip the region.

“When the temperatures drop, our responsibility to one another rises,” Small said. “This winter coat drive is about taking care of our residents, looking out for our neighbors, and making sure no one faces this bone-chilling weather without the warmth they deserve.”

Officials urge residents to stay off roads as snow, mixed precipitation, and closures continue.

City officials said the coats were donated by an anonymous donor. Any remaining coats will be distributed later this month during the city’s upcoming “Heat the Streets” event, with additional details expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

Staff and volunteers from multiple city departments assisted with Wednesday’s distribution, including the Mayor’s Office, the Department of Health and Human Services, Reentry Services Division, Anti-Violence Division, Community Engagement Division, and the Mayor’s Office of Special Events.

City officials emphasized that the event reflects the administration’s continued focus on meeting residents’ immediate needs during extreme weather conditions.
