Thousands Attend the HBCU Festival at the Mann

PHILADELPHIA – The Mann summer festival venue and TD Bank recently teamed up for an entire day of free events dedicated to Historically Black College and University recruitment.

Hundreds of vendors including fraternities, sororities, the Philadelphia 76ers, the United Negro College Fund and many more set up tables with information and opportunity.

Thousands of family, high school students, alumni, current HBCU students and representatives from across the east coast came to celebrate and share information about HBCUs.

The event brought many aspects of the HBCU social experience to The Mann. Attendees were treated to step shows, marching bands, drumlines, choirs and addresses from HBCU faculty, alumni and students.

Below an alum of Hampton University discusses the benefits of her education from Hampton specifically and an HBCU in general.

There was a host of fun activities such as this freestyle dance presentation (below) featuring HBCU alumni.

There were also health screenings provided by Thomas Jefferson Hospital and arts and crafts provided by Mill Creek Community Partnership.

The HBCU Festival at The Mann provided a healthy mix of excitement, opportunity and information. Thousands attended. Hopefully, next year thousands more will attend.

Here's an Atlantic City Focus postcard of the great people who attended the festival.
