The Camden Youth Arts Festival 2025: 5 Cool Things at the Fest
Maurice Hyman Founder Of The Camden Youth Arts Festival

CAMDEN - On Saturday May 10th, Camden's Neighborhood Center hosted their Second Annual Camden Youth Arts Festival.

The day was all-inclusive and as founder Maurice Hyman explains The Camden Youth Arts Festival is a day where artists of different generations share the same space.

There were plenty of great things I experienced at The Camden Youth Arts Festival....Here are 5 Cool Things.

NUMBER 5: CHALK ART

There's something about the fun and simplicity of drawing on asphalt that will always make me smile. Honestly, it reminds me of why I started to draw. I love the raw expression.

NUMBER 4: STEF'S CEREAL BAR

In order to help the world everyone must do what they can.
Stef's Cereal Bar helps fight food insecurity by providing a morning pleasure that we all have enjoyed at one time...cereal.

Here Stef explains how she started and how she now helps people with one essential provision.

NUMBER 3: THE CAMDEN CITY POLICE GAMING TRUCK

The Camden City Police Department has a whole "S.W.A.T" truck/van with air conditioning and the hottest video games from Madden, and NBA 2k, to Super Mario. Not only did I have a great time, it was a great way to connect and discuss community with local law enforcement.

NUMBER 2: CHESS WITH STEVE BROWN

Steve Brown brought his love for chess and 3 boards ready to go. Chess is the one board game I do not play well. I played not well enough to lose to Steve Brown in record time. However, it was beautiful to see someone from the community willing to teach and share chess.
I should call him back for lessons.

Here Steve Brown discusses his role in the community and why he brought Chess to the Camden Youth Arts Festival.

THE NUMBER 1: COOL THING ABOUT THE CAMDEN YOUTH ARTS FESTIVAL... THE MAYOR VICTOR CARSTARPHEN CAME OUT TO SUPPORT THE ARTS IN CAMDEN.

Camden Mayor, Victor Carstarphen, found the time on a Saturday to support the Camden Arts Festival and share his views on why the Camden Youth Arts Festival and the Neighborhood Center are important to Camden.

Here Mayor Carstarphen talks about how similar programs helped him growing up.

There were also book give-a-ways, Flo the Plant Lady showing and discussing her garden and an appearance by Miss Maple Shade, NJ.
