Former Atlantic City High School basketball player Frank Gilliam Jr. brought emerging designers from South Jersey, Philadelphia and Delaware to the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. School Complex.
ATLANTIC CITY – Former, Atlantic City High School basketball player, Frank Gilliam, Jr. wanted to leave an impact on his hometown of Atlantic City before heading back to college.
So he decided to curate a pop-up shop at the outdoor basketball courts of the Dr. Martin Luther King School Complex.
The Back To School Pop-Up Shop on August 15, 2026, brought young clothing designers to Atlantic City from South Jersey, Philadelphia and Delaware.

The Back To School Pop-Up Shop, brought exciting new and young fashion to Atlantic City. I am excited to see what they do next. It was also exciting to witness an organic and growing arts movement start in the neighborhoods of Atlantic City.

I am proud of what Frank Gilliam Jr. was able to accomplish with his first Back-to-School Pop-Up Shop. I hope this encourages more platforms for young people, by young people, in local neighborhoods where residents can easily access the events and meet people who can help them grow as artists and members of the cultural community.
