Stronger Than Your Excuses: Why Progress Is About More Than the Number on the Scale
Learn why strength, energy, consistency, and mindset may be better indicators of success than the number staring back at you from the scale.

June Theme: Stronger Than Your Excuses Building Strength From the Inside Out
June is about recognizing that true strength isn't just physical. It's the strength to: Keep going when motivation fades Push through challenges Stay committed during busy seasons Choose growth over comfort Believe in yourself even when progress feels slow This month, we'll focus on developing strength in our body, mindset, emotions, and spirit.

Measure Progress Beyond the Scale As I reflect on my fitness journey, there were times when I measured everything by a number. The number on the scale. The number of pounds lost. The number of inches gone. And while those numbers can be useful, I learned something important along the way: The scale doesn't tell the whole story.

There were weeks when the scale barely moved, but I was getting stronger. I was lifting heavier weights. I had more energy. My clothes fit differently. My confidence was growing. Yet if I had only focused on the number, I would have missed the progress happening right in front of me. That's why this month we're focusing on becoming stronger—not just physically, but mentally and emotionally as well.

Strength Looks Different Than You Think Many people begin their wellness journey wanting to lose weight. I understand that because I did too. But somewhere along the way, my focus shifted. Instead of asking, "How much weight did I lose this week?" I started asking: How do I feel? Am I stronger? Am I making healthier choices? Am I showing up for myself consistently? Those questions helped me recognize victories that the scale could never measure. Maybe you can now walk farther without getting tired. Maybe you're sleeping better. Maybe you're drinking more water, eating more intentionally, or handling stress differently. Those are signs of progress. Those are signs of strength.

Celebrate the Wins You Can't See Sometimes the greatest changes are happening beneath the surface. You're building discipline. You're creating healthier habits. You're developing confidence. You're learning to trust yourself. Those changes may not show up immediately in the mirror, but they are transforming your life. Don't overlook them. Celebrate them. Because every healthy choice you make is building a stronger version of you.

Stop Comparing Your Progress One of the quickest ways to miss your own growth is by comparing yourself to someone else. Your journey is your journey. Your body is your body. Your timeline is your timeline. The person you should compare yourself to is the person you were yesterday. Are you making better choices? Are you thinking differently? Are you showing up more consistently? If the answer is yes, then you're moving forward. And that's something to be proud of.

Stronger Than Yesterday As we begin this month, I want you to shift your focus. Instead of looking for dramatic results, look for daily improvements. Look for the small victories. Look for the strength you're building. Because true transformation isn't always loud. Sometimes it's found in the quiet decision to keep going. Every workout. Every healthy meal. Every positive choice. It all adds up. And before you know it, you'll realize you've become stronger than you were yesterday. Reflection How am I stronger today than I was six months ago? Take a moment to think about your answer. Then celebrate your growth. Because strength isn't just about what you can lift. It's about who you're becoming.
