Seaview Champions Liam Eyer and Myra Tomer Head to Steph Curry’s Curry Cup

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — Two junior golfers crowned champions in South Jersey will soon test their skills on one of the most challenging public golf courses in the country.

Liam Eyer and Myra Tomer will compete in Stephen Curry’s Curry Cup from Sept. 15–17, 2026, at Bethpage Black Golf Course in Farmingdale, New York. The Curry Cup is the season-ending championship of the UNDERRATED Golf Tour presented by KPMG.

Eyer and Tomer earned automatic berths by winning their divisions during the tour’s July 21–23, 2026, stop at Seaview Golf Club in Galloway Township. Both golfers completed the two-round regional tournament at six under par.

Eyer, an 18-year-old from San Jose, California, captured the boys championship after competing with UNDERRATED Golf for four seasons. The victory at Seaview was his first on the tour.

Tomer, from Newtown, Pennsylvania, followed a different path. She entered the event through the one-day local qualifier and won the girls championship in her first UNDERRATED Golf tournament.

Her victory made her the second female local qualifier in tour history to advance into a regional field and win the tournament. It also secured her place in the Curry Cup and earned her full UNDERRATED Golf Tour status for the 2027 season.

Seaview was familiar territory for Tomer, who had played the course since childhood.

“I grew up playing Seaview’s course,” Tomer told The Philadelphia Inquirer. “It was just so special to come and win here.”

Following the tournament, Tomer spoke with Atlantic City Focus Arts and Entertainment Editor Raymond Tyler about her victory and the experience of competing in Curry’s UNDERRATED Golf program.

Eyer enters championship ranked third

Eyer will arrive at Bethpage Black as one of the highest-ranked boys on the tour.

He is third in the 2026 Curry Cup standings with 750.67 points. Lucas Gimenez leads with 1,500 points, followed by Andrew Rodriguez with 786.5.

Eyer’s victory at Seaview added another achievement to an inspiring personal journey. He survived cancer after undergoing seven rounds of high-dose chemotherapy at age 9. His long-term ambitions include playing college golf and becoming a pediatric oncologist.

According to his American Junior Golf Association profile, Eyer signed a letter of intent to play golf at the University of the Pacific.

Vineland golfer makes his mark at Seaview

The tournament also featured a strong performance from Vineland golfer Trebor Melendez, who gave South Jersey another reason to follow the national junior golf event.

Melendez won the one-day Galloway local qualifier on July 21 to advance into the regional tournament. He carried that momentum into the opening round, shooting six under par to take the boys lead.

Although Melendez did not secure a berth in the Curry Cup, he remained among the leading competitors at Seaview. His performance demonstrated how the tour’s local qualifying format can open a national competitive opportunity for golfers from a host community.

Melendez is a member of the Class of 2030 and has already compiled a growing junior golf résumé. His American Junior Golf Association profile identifies him as a Vineland resident.

The contrasting journeys of Eyer, Tomer and Melendez reflected the competitive pathways offered by UNDERRATED Golf. Eyer arrived as an experienced tour member. Tomer and Melendez earned their places through the local qualifier.

All three emerged as leading competitors at Seaview, with Eyer and Tomer ultimately advancing to the season-ending championship.

Creating opportunities through golf

The Galloway tournament was the third of four regional events during the fifth U.S. season of the UNDERRATED Golf Tour.

The tour also visited the Mark Bostick Golf Course at the University of Florida in Gainesville; Troon North Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona; and Hillcrest Country Club in Los Angeles.

Each regional stop combined 36 holes of stroke-play competition with mentorship, leadership development and opportunities for student-athletes to interact with college coaches, golf executives and industry professionals.

Golfers accumulated points according to their finishes during the season. Regional champions received automatic invitations to the Curry Cup, while other participants advanced through the final standings.

The championship field at Bethpage Black will also include the winners of UNDERRATED Golf’s European tournament.

Curry, a four-time NBA champion and two-time Most Valuable Player, established UNDERRATED Golf in 2022. The program seeks to expand access, equity and competitive opportunities for student-athletes from underrepresented communities and female golfers.

“From day one, UNDERRATED Golf has never just been about playing the game,” Curry said in a statement when the tour’s fifth season was announced. “It’s about creating access and opening doors for young athletes who might not have seen themselves in this space before.”

Curry said golf has given him opportunities that he wants more young athletes to experience.

“Golf gave me so many opportunities and I’ve always believed the game should be more inclusive,” Curry said. “Five seasons in, it’s amazing to see how this platform continues to grow and impact the next generation.”

Bethpage Black awaits

The Curry Cup finalists will face a demanding test at Bethpage Black, a publicly owned course that has hosted some of professional golf’s most prominent events.

Bethpage Black hosted the U.S. Open in 2002 and 2009, the PGA Championship in 2019 and the Ryder Cup in 2025. The course is also known for the warning historically displayed near its first tee advising that it is extremely difficult and recommended only for highly skilled golfers.

The Curry Cup schedule includes a practice round and local qualifying competition Sept. 15. The first championship round will be played Sept. 16, followed by the final round Sept. 17.

The event will also feature KPMG Leadership Development Day, which is designed to help participants develop skills, confidence and perspective they can carry into college, their careers and their communities.

LPGA Tour player and KPMG brand ambassador Mariah Stackhouse will return as an UNDERRATED Golf ambassador. Stackhouse has worked with tour participants during the past three seasons, providing mentorship and sharing lessons from her professional career.

New York State Parks Acting Commissioner Kathy Moser said Bethpage Black offers an appropriate championship venue for a program centered on access and opportunity.

“We are honored to host the Curry Cup at Bethpage Black and to welcome these young athletes who have worked hard all season to earn their place at one of New York’s great public courses,” Moser said in a statement.

For Eyer and Tomer, the Curry Cup represents the next chapter in two journeys that converged in South Jersey. One arrived at Seaview as a longtime tour member seeking his first victory. The other entered as a local qualifier making her UNDERRATED Golf debut.

Both departed Galloway Township as champions. Now, they will attempt to do it again at Bethpage Black.
