NAACP Hosts Forum with NJ Legislature, Atlantic County Commissioner Candidates
Candidates who are running for Atlantic County Commissioner spoke during the first hour. Then the public heard from Republican and Democratic candidates running for Senate and Assembly.
ATLANTIC CITY— The Atlantic City Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People hosted a "Meet the Candidates" night on Tuesday, Oct. 24 at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. School Complex.
Candidates who are running for Atlantic County Commissioner spoke during the first hour. Republicans June Byrnes and John Risley are running against Democrats Kim O’Brien and Habib Rehman.
Atlantic City Focus was on hand to see the discussion and provided the following highlights below.

Then the public heard from incumbent Sen. Vince Polistina, R-Atlantic and his Republican running mates Assemblyman Don Guardian and Assemblywoman Claire Swift. The Republicans are facing Democratic challengers Caren Fitzpatrick, an Atlantic County Commissioner who is seeking Polistina’s senate seat, and assembly candidates Lisa Bender and Alphonso Harrell.

Shawn Peck of the Libertarian Party is also seeking Polistina’s Senate seat but did not attend the event. Election Day is Nov. 7, 2023.
