GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP — On Saturday nights, you can find me—Atlantic City Focus Arts and Entertainment Editor Raymond Tyler—in conversation with members of the community on The Light After Dark.
The program airs live from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturdays on WLFR 91.7 FM at Stockton University. Listeners outside the station’s broadcast range can tune in online at WLFR.fm.

Reiki practitioner Pamela Walker joined the program to explain Reiki and discuss how she incorporates the Japanese energy-healing practice into her work.
Fat Joe and the N-Word
Rapper Fat Joe’s public comments about his racial identity and use of the N-word have renewed debate about who, if anyone, has the right to use the term.
Writer and educator Nathan Davis offered his perspective as someone who has covered hip-hop music since the early 1990s. Davis and music and entertainment manager Robert Williams also discussed the broader cultural issues surrounding the word.
Community Information: A Men’s Safe Space and a Back-to-School Book Bag Giveaway
Community advocate Jerrell Mills, pictured at left, discussed a monthly safe-space gathering where men can speak openly, share their experiences and support one another. The group meets on the third Thursday of each month.
Community members Tracy Brandon, pictured in the center, and Pastor Mark Michaels, pictured at right, also shared details about a book bag giveaway planned for Atlantic City.
The giveaway was originally scheduled for Sept. 20 but has been postponed until Sept. 27 because of rain in the forecast. The video reflects the original date.
Should Aging Superstars Retire—or Simply Slow Down?
Gladys Knight is scheduled to perform Oct. 10 at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City. Recent online conversations about performances by Knight and other veteran entertainers have raised questions about the expectations placed on aging artists.
Robert Williams of T-Marquise Entertainment joined the program to discuss the complicated decisions veteran performers face as they grow older—and whether audiences should adjust their expectations when beloved artists can no longer perform as they did earlier in their careers.
Williams and Davis also discussed the legacies and longevity of R&B performers who continue working into their 80s.
