WILMINGTONImprinted: Illustrating Race, co-curated by Robyn Phillips-Pendleton of the University of Delaware and organized by the Norman Rockwell Museum, explores how illustration has shaped perceptions of race in America over three centuries. Featuring more than 200 works by artists like Jacob Lawrence, Emory Douglas, and Loveis Wise, the exhibition highlights both harmful stereotypes and the transformative efforts of illustrators to promote equity and inclusion. While on view at the DelArt, Rockwell’s legacy and the broader history of American illustration are honored alongside contributions from scholars and artists nationwide.

The 3rd Annual Hip Hop Cultural Summit returns Saturday, October 18 spotlighting Hip Hop’s role in confronting racial barriers and uplifting marginalized voices. Coinciding with the Imprinted: Illustrating Race exhibition, the event features panels, art, a rap battle, DJs, and an all-female breakdance showcase. Headlining is Darryl “DMC” McDaniels of Run-DMC, delivering a keynote and book signing.

DMC as part if the iconic hip hop group Run DMC starred in one of the first hip hop music videos ever...ROCK BOX. Also one of the first music videos by artists of color to plan on MTV!
