CIVIC ENGAGEMENT: Atlantic City Public Safety Director Addresses Complaints About Unhoused Residents in City Parks
Public Safety Director Sean Riggin told the Atlantic City NAACP that mental health and social services — rather than law enforcement alone — are central to addressing concerns involving unhoused residents in local parks.
ATLANTIC CITY – Atlantic City's Public Safety Director, Sean Riggin spoke at the Atlantic City Branch of the NAACP's monthly meeting on Monday, August 1o, 2026, at Atlantic Cape Community College.
Riggin, took a few moments to address complaints that his office has received regarding the unhoused at local parks.
Riggin, took time to explain that social services are available, however if people are not breaking the law or refuse service, there are not a lot of options. Riggin also conceded that the problems fall more under mental health and social services issues rather than issues of "law enforcement."
The Atlantic City Branch of the NAACP meets regularly at 6 p.m. on the second Monday of the month, at Atlantic Cape Community College (Atlantic City Campus.)
