Indivisible Atlantic City leader Alice Carcilli shares firsthand observations from Delaney Hall protests in Newark and discusses ways residents can support detained immigrants.

CIVIC ENGAGEMENT: Atlantic City NAACP Meeting Highlights Delaney Hall Immigration Detention Concerns, Citizen Action Efforts

ATLANTIC CITY– The Atlantic City Chapter of the NAACP held their monthly meeting for the public on Monday, June 8, 2026, at the Atlantic City campus of Atlantic Cape Community College.

The evening included a presentation from Alice Carcilli who attended weekend protests at the Delaney immigration detention center in Newark, NJ.

Carcilli, is one of the leaders of an organization called Indivisible Atlantic City: Empathy United. https://indivisibleatlanticcity.com/

Carcilli, gave her account of Governor Mikie Sherill's response to Delaney Hall conditions, and interactions with state police and I.C.E agents that included pepper spray and physical interaction.

Carcilli, also gave out copies of this document to suggest how citizens can help the people being detained at Delaney Hall.
