In an exclusive Atlantic City Focus interview at the ACUA Earth Day event, longtime public safety leader Sean Riggin discusses his 30-year career and his campaign for Atlantic County Sheriff.

Atlantic City Public Safety Director Sean Riggin Announces Run for Atlantic County Sheriff, Shares Vision for Countywide Law Enforcement

Sean Riggin is a lifelong public safety professional with more than 30 years of experience as a soldier, police officer, police chief, and public safety executive. He currently serves as Director of Public Safety for the City of Atlantic City, providing executive leadership for the Police and Fire Departments, Emergency Management, Emergency Communications, and the Atlantic City Beach Patrol.

Director Riggin is now running for Atlantic County Sheriff against incumbent, Joe O'Donohue. O'Donohue took office on January 2, 2024. Currently both O'Donohue (Republican) and Riggin (Democrat) are running unopposed in the primary. The voters will decide between the two on election day, Tuesday, November 3rd, 2026.

He took the time to give us this candid, on the spot interview. We discussed his history and his vision for County wide law enforcement if were to become Sheriff.
