Number One- Bowlegged Lou co-hosting.
I have known Lou for almost ten years. Lou is like the celebrity cousin I always wanted. Lou has produced hit recordings for his own group Full Force and also contributed to hit songs by Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam ( All Cried Out) and James Brown (Static.) You can spend 5 minutes with Lou and it's clear he loves people and has a huge heart. I can tell several stories of his kindness toward me from checking on me during Covid to having the late Kangol call me one Friday night and the 3 of us just talked about 80's hip hop culture for hours.
Number Two- House Party Screening
I saw House Party opening weekend 35 years ago (at The Shore Mall) and I have recognized it as a classic from the opening scene to the closing credits.
There will be a 35th Anniversary screening Saturday and at least one of the stars, Bowlegged Lou will be in the building. My only regret is that I will not be hosting a Q&A with him before or after. The good news is that he will be available so that you can ask him personally about his contribution to House Party.
Number Three- Old Friends
One of my favorite things about this reunion is that I will get to spend time with people I have not seen since last year's reunion. It's a blessing that many of the people I went to school with come back home for this event. It's beautiful to relive old times with people that knew you when you were young.
Other things I enjoy each year are the decorations in "Sonny's Barbershop" and the various lounges set up throughout the building. I also make a point to catch some of the live performances.
Now all I have to do is pick out my outfit and schedule a nap.
The Lea Family, do a wonderful job of bringing Atlantic City together each year.
The Atlantic City high 70's , 80's, 90's Reunion is a night for love and happiness.
