AC Branch of NAACP Prepares for Education, Health cuts in Trump's New "Big" Bill

ATLANTIC CITY - The Atlantic City Branch of the NAACP heard presentations on Tuesday, July 14, 2025, detailing how President Donald Trump's "Big" Bill will impact the community during its monthly meeting.

The 6 p.m. meeting was held at the Atlantic City Worthington Campus of Atlantic Cape Community College. The meeting included the standard reading of minutes and reports. It also included a special report by the chair of the branch's Educational Committee Chair, Brenda Brathwaite.

Brathwaite , who is an Atlantic City teacher, discussed how the cuts to education in Donald Trump's recently passed tax bill will impact students locally. Braithwaite also discussed millions of dollars that will be taken away and millions being currently with held.

The July, NAACP-Atlantic City Branch meeting also featured a presentation on upcoming health events.

Christian Ragland, of AtlantiCare, chairs the NAACP local branch's Health Committee.

His talk included up coming health events, free screenings and physicals. He also discussed cuts to Medicaid and Medicare that are expected as a result of Trump's recently passed tax bill.

The Atlantic City Branch of the NAACP meetings are regularly scheduled for the second Monday of each month (not including Holidays) at 6 p.m. held at the Atlantic City campus of Atlantic Cape Community College.
