Here are my 5 Reasons to travel from Maryland, Delaware, South Jersey or from where you are right now to visit The Philadelphia Museum of Art for The Friday Night Lounge.

Number 5
On Friday You Can Eat and Drink In The Museum

By the time I arrived the good people from Baby had sold out of the food they had prepared for their pop up stand at The Philadelphia Museum of Art.
I can say it looked and smelled delicious.

There were also 2 additional museum run snack and beverage stands.
I am pretty sure you can still only eat and drink in certain areas but the access makes for an evening of fun.

Number 4
Picasso, Cezanne, Renoir and Rodin

I was thrilled to see several artists on display that I have only seen in New York and or in art books. I did not have time to explore all the galleries but in the time I was there, I enjoyed being with in breathing distance of works by Paul Cezanne, Pierre Auguste Renoir, Pablo Picasso and Auguste Rodin. Seeing these pieces in person was thrilling to me.

Number 3
Discount, Safe, Well Lit Parking Garage

I so appreciate not have to walk 4 blocks or 14 blocks to get to the museum from the parking lot. I appreciate that the well lit and safe garage was only $10 for Friday Night....(the only place I can park easier is my own drive way.) I appreciate that the elevator was also very clean and very well lit. I greatly appreciate that I could get my parking validated at point of entry. The city of Philadelphia could learn a lot from the way The Philadelphia Museum of Art handles parking.

Number 2
DATE NIGHT

My original plan was to enjoy The Friday Night Lounge as a "Date Night." My best laid plans....crashed out. There were however, a few couples including these two beautiful people who were holding hands as they explored the paintings, sipped the beverages and enjoyed each other's company.

The Friday Night Lounge is a great place for a social meet up. There were dates but also groups and families together. Date or no, next time I go, I do plan to meet with a friend or friends , or bring my niece and or brother.

Number One
LIVE ENTERTAINMENT

In the past when I have attended The Friday Night Lounge there has been a DJ, I have been treated to the poetry of Yolanda Whisher and Traypeta Mason, however on this evening they entertainment was provided by the modern dance company Casual Fit.

Here, Casual Fit dance member Maggie Smith discusses how she got involved with Casual Fit.

I will be "On The Road Again" to Philly before the summer is done to enjoy another night at The Philadelphia Museum of Art. Whether you are visiting Philadelphia for an extended stay or just want to do something cool to start your weekend with culture....check out The Philadelphia Museum Of Art's , Friday Night Lounge.
