Verizon Outage Disrupts Calls and Texts Nationwide

On January 14, 2026, Verizon, one of the biggest network companies in the U.S, is experiencing a major outage. According to writer Jacob Krol at techradar, many customers were unable to receive calls, texts, or have access to mobile data, and it has spread throughout the entire nation. This is the largest signal outage for Verizon since October, 2024.

There are some small strides of recovery as Verizon claims on X that their team is working quickly to resolve the issue. For instance, as stated by techradar commentator Lance Ulanoff, some have reported that their service is up in running again, but most people still have little to no signal.

What should you do during this stressful period? Well, if you have a Verizon router, then you can try using a wifi tower or hotspot from a different service provider. This will allow you to use FaceTime if you have an iPhone, and send FaceTime links to keep in touch with Android users. You can also use WhatsApp’s calling features to get in contact with your loved ones.

Hopefully this network crisis will come to an end sooner rather than later, but for now these backup strategies can be helpful.
