The Coastal Cousins organization is curating a day-long festival dedicated to gardening and specifically yams.
The mind behind the I YAM HARVEST FESTIVAL stopped by The Light (The Atlantic City Focus, under written morning radio show on FM 91.7 WLFR.) . Greg Freelon is an educator, a film maker as well as a gardener.
Greg Freelon explained that yams were chosen as a theme because "the yam" was one of five vegetables that came to America from Africa (as a result of the slave trade.)
Freelon wants the I YAM Harvest Festival to be a community celebration of gardening. All are invited to Our Lady Star Of The Sea School on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. You can find more information at www.coastalcousing.org
