Shaper Academy Celebrates World Father's and Mother's Day in Atlantic City
Atlantic County Sheriff Joseph O'Donoghue, Atlantic City officials, educators and community members joined the celebration honoring parents, student achievement and community service.
ATLANTIC CITY — Shaper Academy hosted a celebration of World Father's and Mother's Day on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at its Atlantic City headquarters.
Shaper Academy is a community-based educational organization that provides academic support, cultural enrichment and youth development opportunities for students and families in South Jersey. The organization also works to promote civic engagement and celebrate the cultural diversity of the region's growing immigrant communities.
The event featured a variety of activities, including guest speakers, recognition of outstanding students, honors for elected officials, award presentations, a raffle drawing, and a dinner reception.
The program opened with a recitation from the Holy Quran by Abdur Rahman and a reading from the Bhagavad Gita by Atasi Roy Chaiti.
The event was emceed by Md. Didar and Md. Mamun. Shapon Shakhawat, Chief of Staff of Shaper Academy, delivered the welcome remarks.
Among the guests in attendance were Atlantic County Sheriff Joseph O'Donoghue; Atlantic City Council Vice President Kaleem Shabazz; Councilman-at-Large Sohail Mohammed; Councilwoman Maria Lacca; Atlantic City Board of Education members Subrata Chowdhury and Anthony Catanoso; Local 54 President Donna DeCaprio; Atlantic City Director of Public Safety Sean Riggin; BASJ President Zahirul Islam Babul; and former Councilman Anjum Zia.
Speakers praised Shaper Academy for its contributions to education and community development and pledged their continued support for the organization's programs and initiatives.
The celebration concluded with a dinner reception.
Shapon Shakhawat thanked all attendees for participating in the World Mother and Father Day celebration and helping make the event a success.
