Pine Forge Academy Choir to Surprise Shoppers with Holiday Flash Mob at Reading Terminal Market
A nationally acclaimed youth choir brings festive harmonies, community spirit, and a holiday flash-mob surprise to one of Philadelphia’s busiest markets.
PHILADELPHIA — One of the nation’s most celebrated youth choirs will bring an unexpected burst of holiday joy to Reading Terminal Market this weekend.
The award-winning Pine Forge Academy Choir is set to stage a surprise flash-mob performance on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 4 p.m., filling the bustling marketplace with festive music, rich harmonies, and dynamic movement.
The internationally recognized choir—honored by WHYY as both Best Youth Choir and Best Overall Choir, and fresh off a 2024 appearance at Carnegie Hall’s “Night of Inspiration”—will begin singing at the Mom Your Business (MYB) Day Cart before weaving through the market toward Arch Street Court. Twelve student performers will present two holiday selections as part of the activation, organized in partnership with MYB and the holiday lifestyle brand Black Paper Party.
Shoppers can expect a lively, visual display designed to surprise, delight, and draw crowds in one of Philadelphia’s most iconic public spaces. The choir will also distribute festive gift bags to patrons, while each student performer receives a gift card to enjoy the Market—courtesy of MYB and Black Paper Party.
Organizers say the event is meant to lift spirits and support small businesses during the peak of the holiday season.

The Pine Forge Academy Choir, one of only three historically Black boarding school choirs in North America, has earned numerous national accolades and continues to build on its legacy under director Jarrett Roseborough.
