National Night Out

National Night Out (NNO) began initially, as a community building campaign between neighbors and law enforcement in August of 1984 and is held annually on the first Tuesday in August. The event initially started in the state of Texas but has expanded to cities nationwide. The aim was to promote positive relationships with residents to law enforcement and government agencies, neighborhood watch groups, civic groups, state and regional crime prevention associations. Across the country, local cities host block parties/festivals, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, and a variety of activities for the young and young at heart. This year I attended NNO events in Atlantic City and Pleasantville, NJ on August 5, 2025.

Atlantic City held it's National Night Out at Pete Pallito Field on Fairmont Avenue. Hosted by the ACPD, the City of Atlantic City, ACFD, AC Toys For Tots, and many other organizations.

Pleasantville held it's National Night Out at the field on Tilton and Langston Avenue. Hosted by The Pleasantville Police Department, the City of Pleasantville, PFD, and many other organizations.

Both events had great turnouts and interactions for the people and the agencies that service both cities. Music, food, and fun.
