ATLANTIC CITY – On April 18, 2024, Haddon Antonucci, policy director for U.S. Congressman Jeff Van Drew of New Jersey’s 2nd District, was in Atlantic City to share information about a one-million-dollar grant to train Atlantic City residents in Cyber Security Crime Prevention.

Raymond Tyler hosted "Civic Engagement," featuring Antonucci. The interview was held at the Envision Center for Cybersecurity in Atlantic City.

Antonucci, originally from Greenville, North Carolina, and raised in Mays Landing, New Jersey, detailed his role in federal appropriations and infrastructure policy. He emphasized the congressman’s work with federal agencies like the FAA, Coast Guard, and Army Corps of Engineers to secure funding for public safety and infrastructure projects.

The Envision Center was highlighted as a federal Economic Development Center, established with assistance from former HUD Secretary Ben Carson. Antonucci announced a new $1 million grant-funded program to train and employ 20 locals in low voltage electrical work and cybersecurity with the Atlantic City Police Department. This initiative aims to enhance public safety and create job opportunities in the community.

Antonucci encouraged young, ambitious individuals interested in community service to apply, with recruitment starting in May, 2024. He shared his own journey from an intern in 2017 to a legislative assistant for Congressman Van Drew, advising those interested in politics to prioritize community needs.

The discussion concluded with Antonucci inviting the audience to explore ongoing projects on Congressman Van Drew’s website. Raymond Tyler thanked Antonucci and the Civic Engagement team for the interview.
