Chubb Rock Headlines Pleasantville's 250th Independence Celebration at Unity Park
Residents enjoyed an evening of music, dancing and community spirit as Pleasantville celebrated America's 250th anniversary with a free concert featuring hip-hop veteran Chubb Rock. He Knows how to Treat 'em Right.

PLEASANTVILLE – The City of Pleasantville presented a celebration of the 250th year of the nation's independence with a free concert featuring Hip Hop veteran Chubb Rock at Unity Park on July 5, 2026.
Pleasantville, along with many other cities in NJ and the tri-state area experienced a record-breaking heatwave during the first week of July that canceled and or delayed many activities planned for the 4th of July of 2026. Thankfully the harsh weather conditions subsided from the high 90s to 100+ degrees to a comfortable high 80s for the City of Pleasantville to present its scheduled Live in Concert show that featured a headlining performance by recording artist and syndicated radio host Chubb Rock.
Hosted by local comedian Karl Hall, who kept the crowd engaged with his wit and humor, the mood remained festive. Line Dance instructor Yvette Jackson led the attending line dance community in a number of popular dances to help pass the time leading up to the artist performances. The opening act, the SNJ singing group Village Bridge, performed a set that included popular songs by Jill Scott, Guy, as well as their own original songs. Music in between the sets was provided by DJ Rudeboi and the sound system provided by RCP Sound was amazing. The event was well organized by the City of Pleasantville with a number of city officials in attendance for the celebration.
