Beach Bar to Relocate from Chelsea Avenue to Boardwalk Hall Area by 2026

ATLANTIC CITY — Mayor Marty Small Sr. announced Wednesday, September 10, 2025, that the beach bar once known as Chelsea Beach Bar will relocate ahead of the 2026 summer season.

The venue, which has operated under different names in recent years including Cocorico Beach Bar and Goldfish Beach Bar, will move to the Atlantic City beach between Bellevue and Georgia avenues, directly outside Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall. The relocation was approved by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA) following discussions between the City of Atlantic City and the bar’s ownership.

City officials said the new location was chosen because it is away from residential neighborhoods and similar venues, addressing long-standing concerns from residents living near Chelsea Avenue. Small emphasized that the city does not plan to solicit proposals for a new beach bar at the Chelsea Avenue site.

“The Small administration remains committed to striking a balance that supports our local businesses, while respecting the quality of life for our residents,” Small said. “This is the best move for all parties, as the beach bar will still be able to contribute to Atlantic City’s vibrant entertainment scene, while our residents can feel like they have peace in front of their properties.”

Earlier this year, residents from the Ocean Club Condominiums expressed concerns about the bar's patrons. This, in part, resulted in the Beach Road Trip (BRT) Weekend being relocated from the Chelsea Avenue Beach to the Missouri Avenue beach.

The relocation agreement has support from the DCA, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, and the city’s Business Administrator and Solicitor’s Office. It will next be submitted to the New Jersey Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA) for final land use approval.
