ATLANTIC CITY – The City of Atlantic City provided winter clothing, warm meals and critical support services to 225 residents on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, during its “Heat the Streets” Sweater & Sock Resource Fair at Center City Park.

Organized by the city’s Reentry Services and Homeless Prevention divisions within the Department of Health and Human Services, the outreach event aimed to assist vulnerable residents amid prolonged frigid temperatures. Attendees received sweaters, socks, coats and other cold-weather essentials, along with access to health, housing and social service resources. Hot soup and hot chocolate were also served.

“We have not been able to catch a break with the extremely cold weather, so it’s important we provide these essential resources to our less fortunate population,” said Health and Human Services Director Jarrod Barnes. “Giving back to our community will always be one of our most important missions.”

Mayor Marty Small Sr. and members of the city’s leadership team were on site at Center City Park helping distribute clothing and personally serving meals to residents.

The event was supported through partnerships with Angels in Motion, AtlantiCare, Jewish Family Service of Atlantic & Cape May Counties, Southern New Jersey Family Medical Center, Spread Kindness TriState and the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

City officials said the resource fair reflects Atlantic City’s ongoing commitment to supporting residents experiencing hardship. Earlier this month, Mayor Small hosted a Winter Coat Giveaway at City Hall, distributing more than 300 coats. The mayor also recently announced a $400,000 allocation to assist residents with rental and utility support.
