ATLANTIC CITY — Atlantic City officially opened the new year on Wednesday, January 1, 2026, with an Oath of Office Ceremony at the All Wars Memorial Building, formally swearing in Mayor Marty Small Sr. and members of City Council for the 2026 governing term.
Mayor Small was sworn in alongside Councilwoman-at-Large Stephanie Marshall, Councilwoman-at-Large Patricia Bailey, and Councilman-elect M. Suhel Ahmed during the public ceremony attended by residents, city officials, and community stakeholders.

The annual event marked the formal transition into the new term and reaffirmed the city’s commitment to transparency, civic participation, and continuity in local leadership. Following the ceremony, the Atlantic City Council held its reorganization meeting, during which leadership roles and committee assignments for the year were addressed.
A public reception followed at the Showboat Hotel, where community members had the opportunity to greet city leaders and celebrate the start of the new governing year.
